ABOUT ME
Most of America got to know Shay Johnson as "Buckeey" from the second season of the popular hit show, Flavor of Love 2. Flavor of Love 2 debuted with over 3.9 million viewers in its first episode. By the season finale, it had 7.5 million viewers and became VH1's highest rated non - sports related show, as well as the most viewed show in the channel's history. It wasn't reality TV, however, where Shay got her first taste of the entertainment industry.
While operating her promotions company in her hometown of Atlanta, Shay was a featured model in music videos with T.I., Young Dro, C-Lo, JazzePha, Fabolous, Shawty LO and many more. Ms. Johnson has enjoyed much success as a model. She graced the cover of King Magazine in October 2006 and received a six-page feature spread in Smooth Magazine in early 2007 and eight-pages in 2009. In 2010, Shay received several pages in the Jamaican issue of Black Men's Magazine. Ms. Johnson also appeared in hair publications from 2007 to 2009 such as Sophisticates' Black Hair, Black Men's Magazine, and Metro Style Hair Magazine.
Continuing the pursuit of a viable television career, Shay was also asked to make special guest appearances on both the Maury Povich Show, The Tyra Banks Show, Top 25 Celebrity Couples - BET Special, 106 N park, Rap City's Who's that Girl, The Reality Remix Awards, and MTV's airing of the Ozone Music Awards. After appearing in multiple television series and music videos, Shay moved on to get a taste of radio. She's made guest host appearances on morning radio shows such as Frank and Wanda in the Morning (V103/Atlanta), as well as the popular syndicated afternoon show, The Wendy Williams Experience (107.5FM/NewYork).
Shay returned to VH-1 to be apart of "Charm School," a series hosted by comedian Mo’Nique. With a finale record closing of 4.1 million viewers, Charm School became VH-1's third highest rated show amongst 18-49 year old viewers, and solidified Shay's title as one of VH-1's Favorite Celeb- Reality Bad Girls. Shay won the show's greatest prize: lessons about trust, personal responsibility and belief in self.
Shay continues to practice these lessons. Shay has evolved into an actress and entrepreneur. She has continued to work as a guest radio DJ, host events throughout the US, produce calendars, Xbox skins and I Phone merchandise. She has made cameo appearances in independent films, television and even plays. Her latest play being the "Pocketbook Monologues" stage play where she appears alongside Ella Joyce, Essence Atkins, Myra, Kandi, Nicci Gilbert, Queen Aisha, and Lisa Woo. Shay's newest endeavors revolve around developing and launching a charity organization in her community to give back to Urban youth.
Today Shay is on one of the highest rated reality shows in the country, LOVE AND HIP HOP ATLANTA. The season finale of LOVE AND HIP HOP ATLANTA pulled in 4.4 million viewers and was the most popular show among 18-49 year olds throughout all TV networks that night. On season 2 of Love and Hip Hop, you will see how Shay transitions into a respected entrepreneur. Season 2 is set to air in April 2013.
